Excel·lent pel·lícula per als amants de les VOs. Julie Delpy, directora, guionista i actriu principal ha sabut crear una pel·lícula completament personal on es mostra tal com és, fent-nos riure tota l'estona. L'única pega que li trobo és que tant pel títol com pel cartell es pot confondre fàcilment amb la típica peli nyonya que faria el Hugh Grant i molta gent la pot passar per alt. Us recomano que no ho feu :)
Excel·lent film for good cinema lovers. Julie Delpy, director, writer and lead actress has managed to create an extremely personal film where she shows up as she is, making us laugh for a while. The only drawback one could find to this film is that it can easily be mistaken by a Hugh Grant dull comedy and many people could easily overlook it. My advice is: please, don't.

"Segrest" de Distorsió
Aquest dilluns havíem de començar a vendre la revista de la facultat però la imprenta ens ha deixat completament a l'estacada; dels 800 exemplars tan sols ens en van portar 170 dimarts i durant tota la setmana han estat ignorant les nostres trucades desesperades. Avui finalment han mig donat la cara, però ja és massa tard. Buscarem un altre col·laborador més seriós per poder satisfer les demandes dels nostres fidels lectors i que Distorsió segueixi sent, per molts números, la millor revista universitària de Barcelona.
On Monday we wanted to start selling the college magazine, but the new press just let us down. On Tuesday they came with 170 of the 800 magazines. We sold them in 2h and then had to dismantle the stall and apologize to our fellow students. The press guys ignored our 30 calls and until today they didn't show up. Too late, too bad. We'll look for a serious provider that can guarantee us we'll be able to deliver the best college magazine in Barcelona to our faithful readers.

The Hives
Abans de The Hives, no existia la música. Això és el que asseguren entre rialles aquest grup de suecs vestits a conjunt amb trajos blancs i negres i que toquen un rock-punk altament energètic i de vegades frenètic. Acaben de treure el seu quart disc, més tranquilet, "The Black and White Album", i em va fer tanta il·lusió descobrir-ho que me'l vaig comprar per iTunes :)

Dressed in black and white costumes, they play a mix of garage rock - punk highly energetical and sometimes frenetical. Astrid is gone
La meva companya de pràctiques en les assignatures del màster que faig com a optatives m'ha abandonat. No és que sigui res personal: ha decidit deixar el màster i tornar cap a Alemanya. Com que ella era de la branca de fotònica, ha trobat molt difícils la majoria d'assignatures. No va durar ni una setmana que ja va deixar la majoria d'assignatures, i tan sols es va quedar amb les dues que feia amb mi. Una setmana més agobiada per treballs i presentacions - reconec que van molt forts - ha servit per acabar-la d'enfonsar. No ha volgut fer cas dels meus consells de prendre's un any sabàtic a Barcelona. Dijous va venir a acomiadar-se de mi i el seu amic Martin - un paio genial, algun dia parlaré d'ell -, i ens va regalar un llibre i un porta-CDs. Em sap greu que marxi, però què hi farem...

Catàstrofe
Aquest vespre l'he liat bastant. Tenia la roba estesa al pati interior quan ha començat a ploure a bots i barrals. Estava jo meravellat per la gran quantitat de llamps que queien quan de sobte m'he enrecordat de la roba. He sortit corrents per fer entrar l'estenedor, l'he arrossegat fins a la porta i llavors... l'estenedor s'ha plegat, arrossegant tota la roba pel terra. No queda aquí la cosa: he intentat aixecar l'estenedor estirant per l'ala extensible i se m'ha quedat a les mans, arrencada d'arrel. Ops! He hagut de recòrrer a la SuperMami i el seu combo rentadora-assecadora per a desfer el mal. Aix... les presses no són bones per a res!
This evening I've created a big mess. I had the clothes hung outside, at the foldable clothes horse - what a strange name - when it started raining cats and dogs. I was so delighted seeing all the lightnings cross the sky - oh, I love Rain - when I suddenly remembered about the clothes. I've run outside in order to carry the horse inside. It was easy until I had to cross the door, where the horse just folded throwing all the clothes to the wet floor. I tried to lift it all pulling strong the extreme I had in my hand, and as a result it got broken. Ops! I've had to call SuperMummy and her powerful washer-dryer to undo the mess. You know, hurrying never did any good!

Sabia que alguna cosa fallaria, però no pensava que seria tan greu :P
Resulta que no puc treballar amb linux/windows virtualitzats (simulats) sobre MacOSX perquè llavors Java no té el mateix comportament amb el teclat. Per exemple, a linux no surten els accents i a Windows tot funciona massa bé (normalment s'haurien d'enviar uns codis encriptats indesxifrables). I com que la meva feina és precisament aquesta, millorar el suport de teclat dels diversos SOs en un applet java, doncs no serveix veure un comportament fictici. En fi, mans a la feina i a instalar els Linux colze a colze amb MacOSX. Per cert, això comptarà com que estic treballant?

Got a job!
Demà torno a treballar. Després de dos mesos d'incertesa, al final el meu antic cap en les pràctiques a París, en Gaël Duval, em va fer una proposta concreta per a seguir en el seu projecte Ulteo. Com que estic bastant ocupat amb les darreres assignatures de la universitat, hem quedat que aniré fent hores per lliure - calculo unes 15-20 per setmana - i cobraré com a autònom francès, és a dir una indecència. Això sí, no tindré atur XD
De moment ja he preparat el meu flamant MacPèsol - sí, es diu així ;) - amb Ubuntu i tots els programes i utilitats que necessitaré per a treballar. Demà, evidentment, m'adonaré que em falten 1 o 2 aplicaciones imprescindibles i haurem d'instalar-les a corre-cuita. Ja veurem si aguanto el primer mes sense que em facin fora i si sóc capaç de mantenir el diabòlic ritme universitari imposat pel maleït pla Bolonya sense que la meva productivitat laboral es vegi afectada. Després tot serà bufar i compilar. O no.
Tomorrow I'll start working again. After 2 months of incertitude, my boss finally made me a serious proposal to keep on with his Ulteo project. As I'll be quite busy with the latest subjects at college, I'll do spare hours - 15 to 20 per week - and get paid as an independent French worker. That's just more than I can count with my fingers.
By now, I have already prepared my MacPea - you won't probably get it - with Ubuntu and all the necessary programs to work. Tomorrow, of course, I'll realize I need another one which is just indispensable. We'll see if I stand more than a month, and if I can keep with the diabolic college rhythm without a considerable productivity loss. After that, it will all be peace of Java. Or not.

Viaggio inaspettato
Aquest cap de setmana passat la bunica i jo vam anar a Roma per celebrar els 3 anyets que portem junts =) Va ser una escapada curta i completament inesperada però vam gaudir-ne al màxim. Era la primera vegada que visitava la ciutat i haig de reconèixer que em va sorprendre agradablement. Me l'esperava bruta, caòtica, ruïnosa; vaig trobar una moderna capital europea, cuidada i equipada com cal. Tanmateix, l'encant del passat és omnipresent, impregna el dia a dia. L'arquitectura moderna defuig les estridències - és a dir, no hi ha pirulos - i s'aconsegueix una idíl·lica harmonia.
This weekend Rosie and I went to Rome to celebrate the 3 years we've been together =) It was a short and unexpected trip but we made the most out of it. It was the first time I visited the city and I must admit it was a pleasant discovery. I imagined it would be dirty and run-down; I found a modern European capital, properly tidied and equipped. However, the essence of the past is everywhere. Modern buildings stand unnoticed, and a nice harmony is achieved.
El millor del cap de setmana va ser la idea de la bunica de llogar una vespa per moure's fàcilment per la ciutat. Va ser tan divertit anar d'una punta a l'altra trontollant pels còdols i fent fotografies sense parar!
The best part of the weekend was Rosie's idea of renting a scooter. It was so funny to go from one place to the other, trembling because of the cobble stone roads and taking pictures non-stop.
Definitivament, Roma enamora.

This weekend Rosie and I went to Rome to celebrate the 3 years we've been together =) It was a short and unexpected trip but we made the most out of it. It was the first time I visited the city and I must admit it was a pleasant discovery. I imagined it would be dirty and run-down; I found a modern European capital, properly tidied and equipped. However, the essence of the past is everywhere. Modern buildings stand unnoticed, and a nice harmony is achieved.
